Choir is better than Netflix 😏

I'VE FINALLY FOUND PROOF!! 🤩 Choir is better 'rest' for your brain that watching the telly! 🤯 CANCEL YOUR NETFLIX SUBSCRIPTION! 😱 Just kidding. Don't go that far 😂 But seriously... THIS is why you should absolutely: prioritise choir over a night at home with the telly... EVEN WHEN you feel naff! 😫 Choir is what you could call 'restorative rest'. A period of time where your mind can switch off from the busy day-to-day and just be in the moment. It keeps your brain busy enough that you can't focus on all that other stuff from work or home life or just the general stresses you're dealing with, but not so busy that it stresses you out further. AND not only does it stop you from thinking about all those pesky things, it also boosts your creativity, and your ability to problem-solve, which is super for when you're at work the next day! It can take you from this:

To this:

True story! I've recently discovered a book called 'REST' by Alex Soojung-Kim Pang, and the tag line of the book is 'Why you get more done when you work less'. (Shout out to my husband, who is actually the one who discovered the book 😆 🤫) I haven't read the whole thing yet, but I snuck forward to the conclusion 😉 and found this AMAZING little gold nugget... "The fact that deliberate rest is skilled and active makes it more effective, more energising and restorative, than passive forms of entertainment' (deliberate rest means stuff like choir...) I couldn't agree more! I cannot tell you how many times I've heard people say... 🎉 "I came to choir feeling rubbish and I'm leaving feeling AMAZING" 🎉 So yes, your body will probably tell you that when you feel naff, you need to go home and have a quiet night with the telly... but really... YOUR BRAIN IS WRONG 😂 WRONG I SAY! What you need to do, is drag yourself to choir, come hell or high water, and let us restore you back to your wonderful self, so you can go home for a beautiful night's sleep! 💪 Oh, and this is the part where I also mention that singing helps you sleep better too 😴😴 Thank google for this beautiful quote: "Singing is a perfect tool for expressing emotions and improving a bad mood. In addition, singing is a great exercise for relaxing the muscles of the throat and palate and, therefore, can contribute to a calmer and better quality sleep." Honestly gang, I'm really not sure there are ANY downsides to coming to choir!! Just thought I'd brighten up your day with that info. If he were reading this, I'm pretty sure Pedro Pascal would be saying...
